Anonymous: Assign an Element of Harmony each to the Golden Trio and the Silver Trio.

thornfield13713:

All right, then!

Harry Potter - Element of Generosity

Not your first guess, but the fact remains that Harry is always going out of his way for his friends. Yes, he buys them things and is generous with his money, but that is by far the least important part of what this element means. From gestures as small as treating Dobby with kindness until sorely provoked even when under tremendous stress, to forgiving so readily even when said forgiveness may not be deserved, Harry is a deeply generous person and all the more endearing for it.

Ron Weasley - Element of Laughter

Before an army of angry Ron fans has me hanged, drawn and quartered, let me make it clear that I am not dismissing Ron as the comic relief of the trio. Quite the opposite. But throughout the text, Ron’s presence is always connected with humour and warmth. He is the one who helps Harry and Hermione see the lighter side of their awful situation, and without him laughter and good cheer and hope rapidly dries up. Once he has left Harry and Hermione in Deathly Hallows they see even less success than they have previously.

Hermione Granger - Element of Loyalty

Throughout the whole series, Hermione stays by Harry’s side through thick and thin, even when all others have deserted him. Her loyalty to Ron seems no less absolute, and when forced to choose between them she is obviously completely torn up over it. Even when she disagrees with her friends, it tends to be over her having done something for what she believes is their own good, as in the Firebolt incident in the third book. Even when she suffers for it, she remains loyal to those she loves, despite having every reason not to.

Neville Longbottom - Element of Magic

Neville is an odd choice for this one, but hear me out. In the context of the Elements of Harmony, friendship is magic, and Neville’s strength over the course of the series comes first from his friends’ help and encouragement to find the strength within himself. Neville is also a natural leader, forming connections and bringing people together in the resistance against the Death Eaters at Hogwarts.

Ginny Weasley - Element of Kindness

This is an interesting one, because it can be covered by so many things, but in this case kindness seems to fit best. Ginny’s kindness is a fierce thing, manifesting in the protection of those in need of it and the occasional implementation of tough love, as in when she shakes Harry out of his self-pity over the possibility of his being possessed in the fifth book. Her kindness may not be immediately appreciable as such, but it is there and it is real, though it may take a closer look to see it for what it is.

Luna Lovegood - Element of Honesty

For a girl who proclaims so many patently false things this seems downright bizarre, but Luna’s honesty is far deeper than words. Luna is honest about her opinions and herself, never appearing phony or deceptive even when her emotional honesty causes her pain. When Harry is mourning Sirius she speaks truth about her own experiences losing a parent and about how she healed, and I don’t recall any instance of her deliberately lying to anyone.

"Well, you split your soul, you see, and hide part of it in an object outside the body. Then, even if one’s body is attacked or destroyed, one cannot die, for part of the soul remains earthbound and undamaged. But, of course, existence in such a form… few would want it, Tom, very few. Death would be preferable."

The Riddle family was a very old Muggle family. Their members were snobbish, arrogant, and unpopular, all hated by the villagers of Little Hangleton. Thomas Riddle, his wife Mary, and their son Tom Riddle Sr. were killed in 1943 by Tom Marvolo Riddle, Tom’s son by pure-blood witch Merope Gaunt, whom he had married while influenced by magic (which was theorized to be either a love potion or the Imperius Curse) and later abandoned. Tom Marvolo Riddle killed his father for abandoning his mother, and killed his paternal grandparents for good measure so as to obliterate his Muggle roots. The murderer framed his maternal uncle Morfin Gaunt for the crimes, and he was sent to the wizarding prison of Azkaban, where he died.

Her mentality toward The Doctor can be summed up with a conversation she has with Amy in series 6. The Doctor has left them with instructions Amy does not want to do, but River tells her, “We’re going to [do] as The Doctor’s friends always do. As they’re told.” I think I just heard Rose, Martha, Donna, Romana, and Sarah Jane slap you.
